Press Release
O+Z Growth Continues With Addition of Four New Attorneys
Oppenheim + Zebrak is proud to introduce our new attorneys and share some recent wins our team has secured for our clients.
O+Z has already hired four new attorneys in 2022, in addition to the four we brought on in 2021. These new attorneys come aboard at an exciting time. This year alone, the firm successfully challenged and secured a temporary injunction against an unlawful e-book licensing law in Maryland and won an $83 million judgment for the music industry against two pernicious stream-ripping sites. Meanwhile, we have continued to bring and pursue suits on behalf of our clients against major internet companies, such as Chegg, Shopify, Bright House Networks, Charter Communications, Frontier Communications, Cox Communications, and others, for online infringement.
Please join us in welcoming our new attorneys who will be instrumental in our efforts to protect our clients’ respective brands and content.
Daryl Kleiman
Before joining O+Z, Daryl was a senior associate at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, where she represented a range of clients in complex litigation matters. Daryl has successfully represented clients across all stages of dispute resolution, and her practice at O+Z focuses on the firm’s copyright and other intellectual property and litigation matters. Daryl earned her J.D. from the New York University School of Law, and earned her B.A. in music and mathematics from Columbia University. A lifelong musician, Daryl also sits on the board of Church Street School for Music and Art, the only nonprofit community school for the arts in lower Manhattan, and volunteers with the Adaptive Sports Foundation, where she teaches snowboarding to individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities.
Jeff Kane
Prior to joining O+Z, Jeff was an associate at Robbins, Russell, Englert, Orseck, Untereiner & Sauber (now part of Kramer Levin) and a counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. He has represented companies and individuals in civil and criminal matters involving copyright, fraud, breach of contract, breach of indenture, administrative law, government contract, torts, bankruptcy, and professional liability. Jeff previously clerked for Judge Richard G. Taranto of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and for Judge Kevin McNulty of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Jeff received his J.D. from Yale Law School, and his B.S. from St. Peter’s College. When not working or writing biographies in the third person, Jeff enjoys cooking, baking, and spending time with his wife and baby daughter.
Keith Howell
Before joining O+Z, Keith was a senior associate at WilmerHale in Washington, DC, where he represented a wide range of clients in intellectual property and complex commercial litigation matters. Keith has successfully represented clients across all stages of litigation. Keith earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and earned his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Arizona. When he’s not in the office, Keith can likely be found running, hiking, or spending time with his wife and baby daughter.
Matt Cooper
Before joining O+Z, Matt was an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in New York, where he worked on complex commercial and securities litigation, as well as Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations. At O+Z, Matt focuses on the firm’s copyright and other intellectual property and litigation matters. Matt graduated with honors from The George Washington University Law School and earned a B.S. in political science from Truman State University. Matt comes from a family of musicians and plays numerous instruments, though these days he focuses on piano and guitar.
These four join an impressive team of attorneys already at O+Z. We hope you have already met or become familiar with the four new attorneys we hired in 2021, but if not, please also welcome Ever Hess, Carly Kessler Rothman, Brian Stuart, and Danae Tinelli as well. Their bios are on www.oandzlaw.com.
